Thomas D. Prickett earned his J.D. from Creighton University School of Law in 2010, and earned his B.A. at Hastings College in 2007. He is admitted to practice in Iowa and Nebraska.

Tom’s practice focuses on civil litigation and criminal defense in a wide variety of practice areas. Tom has prosecuted many appeals and successfully argued before the Nebraska Court of Appeals and the Iowa Court of Appeals. Tom has litigation experience in a broad range of cases and subject matter including, but not limited to: Multi-million-dollar private arbitrations; family disputes over farmland; Dissolution of marriage and Spousal Support litigation; Shareholder litigation; Business Divorce litigation; Construction disputes; Restrictive Covenant and Homeowner Association litigation; DUI defense; Felony criminal trial practice, and Juvenile Court litigation. Tom is also a Deputy Public Defender for the Cass County Public Defender’s Office.

Tom was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and raised on a farm in Southwest Iowa. He has always been active and particularly enjoys the outdoors. Tom has shown quarter horses competitively, played soccer in high school and college, and earned his black belt in taekwondo. Tom continues to be active in the outdoors and continues to play soccer.

Tom serves as the Vice Chair of the Natural Resource Commission for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, which is a Governor appointed position that provides policy oversight for Iowa’s natural resource protection and enhancement efforts including reviewing and approving hunting and fishing administrative rules, public land acquisitions, easements, construction projects, business contracts, and the annual budget.

Tom is also a member of the U.S. Concealed Carry Association Critical Response Team Attorney Network.

Tom is also on the Board of Directors for Cass County C.A.S.A. (Court Appointed Special Advocates for abused and neglected children).
